Teak Care

Keep your outdoor furniture in top condition

Discover how to maintain and care for teak properly

Teak is a beautiful golden-brown tropical wood that, with time and exposure to the elements, acquires a silvery-grey patina that gives it its distinctive appearance outdoors. This wood is noted for its resistance to extreme weather conditions and water. It also has a natural oil coating that makes it waterproof, prevents rot and protects it from fungi, termites and pests.

At Vondom we care about the maintenance and care of your teak furniture, ensuring that it remains in optimal condition over time. That is why we offer a care pack consisting of Teak Cleaner and Teak Protector, two professional solutions for specific teak care.

Teak Cleaner

A cleaner and polish in one, designed to clean and restore teak wood. This aqueous solution contains a highly concentrated cleaner and brightening ingredients that restore teak to its original colour and lustre.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to clean teak?

We recommend using our Teak Cleaner, specifically designed to remove mould and mildew spores from teak. Follow the instructions on the bottle and the colour will be restored. We recommend using our Teak Protector after cleaning to prevent the effects of weathering.

What to do if my teak is rough or worn?

If your teak is rough and worn, don’t worry. Teak contains enough natural oil inside to protect it from rotting. If you want a smoother surface, you can sand it by hand with very fine sandpaper. Avoid power sanding, as it can cause black marks. After sanding, use a dry, rough cleaning sponge to remove any remaining sawdust.

Is it advisable to oil teak wood before using maintenance products?

Our Teak Cleaner works by removing oil and dirt from the teak, leaving a uniform pale brown colour. Do not apply Teak Protector directly to oiled teak, as this will result in a poor finish.

What do I do if the wood has dark or black stains?

If you notice dark or black stains on your teak furniture, they are likely to be caused by moisture and the formation of mould or mildew. These stains can be removed with our Teak Cleaner, and can also be hand sanded and cleaned.
