The Spanish designer home decor company took part in the sustainability event, “Design for the Oceans,” hosted in València, which is the World Design Capital for 2022.
The Legacy of Valencian Design
The city of Valencia is embarking on a creative and cultural journey. As the World Design Capital 2022, known for its vibrant fallas and blooming flowers, Valencia has a profound responsibility to honor its past while shaping the future. At the heart of this legacy lies sustainability, representing both our present and our prospects for the future.
During this journey towards candidacy, a significant event called Design for the Oceans unfolded on May 26th. It took the form of a roundtable discussion, featuring prominent brands from Valencia’s design sector. The event found its venue at The Sea, situated within Veles e Vents at the Valencia Marina.
The primary objective was to contemplate the role of design as a vehicle for transformation. This was approached from a dual perspective: the viewpoint of a company deeply rooted in sustainability and that of a business that has transitioned towards a more conscientious and responsible model.
Embracing Sustainability through Furniture
Vondom was honored to participate in this remarkable event, where they elaborated on the core concept behind Revolution, the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. Currently, this commitment has led to the creation of collections crafted from recycled plastic sourced from the Mediterranean.
Revolution is an ever-evolving initiative, and its objective is to expand this philosophy into new territories. This expansion will revolve around initiatives such as eco-friendly packaging, renewable energy adoption, and waste reduction strategies.
Embracing a Circular Future
Following the exhibition, the discussion was moderated by María Navarro, Manager of ADCV,. Our Sales Director, Dermot Nally, was among the panelists who deliberated on the significant hurdles in the path toward establishing sustainable enterprises. They also examined the future challenges and the increasingly circular approach to production.
