Pasadena

by Jean-Marie Massaud

‘The ambition of Pasadena is to reinterpret an archetype, to make an architectural product with this language and proportions, but generous in terms of comfort’. The collaboration between Jean-Marie Massaud and Vondom beats strongly in Pasadena, a proposal that combines serenity and warmth. The result is evident at first glance: soft profiles, balanced proportions and a comfort that invites relaxation from the very beginning.

A family that embraces the outdoors – and more

Each piece in the collection has soft lines and a light appearance, conveying the combination of sensuality and proportion that Massaud considers essential for achieving timelessness. The goal is to envelop the user in complete relaxation, similar to that experienced in an indoor space, while providing the durability required for outdoor living.

Designed to feel good

The study of technical materials and weather-ready foams was essential to achieve the level of comfort that Massaud set out to achieve from the outset. His goal was to provide each module with a firm yet soft support, capable of repelling the characteristics of the elements. The result is a serene and cheerful universe that combines aesthetics and functionality.

Jean-Marie Massaud

Since the beginning of his career (Jean-Marie Massaud, a 1990 graduate of Paris’ ENSCI-Les Ateliers, Paris Design Institute), he has been working on an wide range of projects, stretching from architecture building to objects, from one-off project to serial ones, from macro environments down to micro contexts. Major brands such as Axor, Cassina, Christofle, Poliform, Toyota have solicited his ability to mix comfort and elegance, zeitgeist and heritage, generosity and distinction.

Beyond these elegant designs, his quest for lightness – in matters of essence – synthesizes three broader stakes: individual and collective fulfillment, economic and industrial efficiency, and environmental concerns. “I’m trying to find an honest, generous path with the idea that, somewhere between the hard economic data, there are users. People.”
